Tips
We begin with Bismilah. Start with name of Allah (swt) and bring blessing to all you do.
Intention, intention, intention. Take a moment. Talk to your child. Ask your child: why are we doing this? Is the purpose only fun? Can there be a higher purpose? This is a great opportunity to teach your child that with meaningful intention any moment can be turned into worship.
Perfection is doing your best. In this life we can never have perfect, but we can do our absolute best to make things beautiful and good around us--this is called Itqan. The Prophet (sws) taught us that even in the small things we should practice Itqan.
Let your child think creatively. If the child wants to add to the project from the elements around, allow them to. In other words, there is no one right way to do it. Sometimes the best instruction card is the imagination.
Encourage role play. Role play is integral to child development--children copy what they see. These craft kits create an opportunity for the child to role play in what matters. Whether they pull out their own prayer rug, mushaf cover, or thikr beads they can emulate you using personalized hand-made objects allowing for a stronger connection to the spiritual act.
Have fun! Keep smiling through all the questions and the messes. Smiling is the Sunnah of our Prophet (sws) and our children need our smiles the most.
